Should I use a Z or Y EIC code for Delivery Points when matching in eCM?

eCM is not limited or affected by ACER’s Valid EIC code list. For instance counterparties can confirm for delivery locations outside the EU which ACER would see as invalid. Furthermore ACER prefer Y codes whereas, especially in gas, counterparties prefer to identify the physical delivery point in the absence of a virtual trading point.

As this is the case you may proceed to use both codes when matching, however the choice of which code to use will need to be determined internally within your Organisation and your counterparties, and your decision to report to ACER.

Areas – object type “Y”, Areas for inter System Operator data interchange.

Measuring Points – object type “Z”, Energy Metering points.
